Agape in Action responds to urgent medical needs and supports health promotion and nutrition programs. These programs save and improve lives. Most of the common infectious diseases (malaria, dengue, typhoid & diarrhoeal diseases) affecting the children and adults in our programs are completely preventable. Many of the children we care for are suffering from malnutrition that affects their physical and intellectual development. Many of the widows cared for suffer from poor nutrition and chronic illnesses.
Key Health and Nutrition programs include:
NUTRITION DRINK
An amazing drink that is having amazing results; over 90,000 drinks are provided to children each year in Kenya. The drink is packed with protein, nutrients and vitamins to support physical growth and intellectual development.
WIDOWS’ PROGRAM
The Agape in Action Widows’ Program in Kenya supports elderly sisters with physical and spiritual care. With no support systems provided by the government and usually few family members alive, these widows greatly need and appreciate the support provided.
MEDICAL CARE
Emergency medical care, chronic disease management and essential medicines are provided to families living in extreme poverty.
HYGIENE KITS
Essential supplies to maintain good health and hygiene are given to needy families. Kits include a wash basin, hand soap, clothes washing soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes and other supplies as needed.
MOSQUITO NETS
Insecticide treated mosquito nets are provided to needy families living in malaria endemic areas.
HEALTH PROMOTION
Medical teams provide training on a range of topics, including nutrition, disease prevention and disease treatment.
